Ski Film Review: Satisfaction Guaranteed PDF Print E-mail

Satisfaction Guaranteed is Free Radical’s 2008 ski film. Like Snowblind it is packed full of powder backcountry skiing.

If you just want to watch 45 minutes of powder fun then I suggest tuning in to a Free Radical’s film. They don’t disappoint. Besides a very, very short park segment, the rest of the film is all backcountry. One of the great things about this film is how creative they get in the backcountry. It is not every day that you get to witness rodeos, and backflips being performed on difficult backcountry terrain. Admittedly, the technique and difficulty of the terrain isn’t up to par to the industry’s leading film production companies. Yet this works in its favour as it gives the majority of its watchers the belief that they can ski what they’re skiing.

Additionally, don’t think that all the footage is purely from Sweden just because they’re from Sweden. They have footage from all of the backcountry greats such as Engelberg, Chamonix, and Alaska. The Alaska segment is arguably the best part of the film. It is easy to see why they named the film “Satisfaction Guaranteed.” I guarantee you will be satisfied after watching their Alaska segment.

Whilst it was disappointing to see that the film wasn’t HD quality it sort of worked in their favour. Mainly because the editing of the film reminded me of how ski films used to be edited five plus years ago.

It should be mentioned that I criticised their last film’s music soundtrack. Well, this one is a vast improvement, and even though the film has no “wow” factor it is definitely enjoyable and definitely recommended for all the backcountry lovers out there.

Satisfaction Guaranteed.
