Tell us a little bit about your current winter plans with regards to where you plan to ski, film, compete and so forth.

  • I plan to compete at Dew Tour and X-Games, go up to Canada and hang out at Retalack for a while, and hopefully hang at Micah Creek and Alaska

What or who inspired you to become a professional skier?

  • My brother was a big inspiration when I was super young. Then I met a skier named Mickey Price and it was all over. And of course, Glen Plake, the hero.

Which do you prefer more, competing or filming?

  • Both…I love the feeling of being in the powder and the backcountry, but I will always love the thrill of the crowds and the big competitions like X-Games.

What trick on what feature are you most proud of?

  • Switch 9 on Chad’s Gap

Do you have any new tricks that you're working on?

  • Couple things for the halfpipe – you will see them soon...

What's your favourite ski film?

  • That’s a tough one – Chapter 3, Believe, Happy Days and License to Thrill

Your latest ski film “The Massive” recently came out. How was the overall experience producing it, and did it turn out how you expected it to?

  • It was tough, especially because I got hurt this winter, but I think everyone stepped up and we came out with a great film. CP did a great job as always and I think everyone involved with “The Massive” is extremely proud of it.

Your past film “Believe” became a favourite among many skiers and won numerous awards, what are your expectations for “The Massive”?

  • Bigger and Better things…bigger lines, bigger pillow lines, bigger jumps…always trying to take it to the next level.

Were there any major mishaps while filming “The Massive”?

  • Yes, I hurt my ankle twice…once in St. Anton and once in Alaska…still it was a great year.

To the regular skier, making ski films seems like the best job possible. Is there any particular aspect of the production process you dislike?

  • Dealing with budgets is always the biggest issue. That part is definitely not fun.

Almost a year ago you managed to successfully win three gold medals in the Winter X-Games super-pipe competition. How did that feel, and how do you plan to make it a fourth?

  • It felt really good. This year I will just try and clean up my run, maybe break out a new trick and make it that much better.

There has recently been some controversy regarding the fact that there won't be a skiing half-pipe event at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. Any comments?

  • I think we were very close this time, and I really think that by 2014 superpipe will be in there. We all just need to work together to help make it happen.

A while back you had an infamous accident at Chad's Gap that ended up with you being badly injured. How did you manage to overcome your fear of hitting similarly-sized kickers, let alone switch?

  • Just my love of skiing. I love being in the air. Can’t stop, won’t stop!

Do you have any advice for all those skiers out there right now who are injured?

  • Get your body fully healed. I always seem to come back just healthy enough to ski, when waiting a while longer I would probably be better in the long run.

With the freestyle ski industry booming, where do you see the sport and yourself in five years time?

  • Hopefully working to be qualified for the Olympics in 2014!!!!

Do you have any advice for all the young skiers who are trying to make it big?

  • Keep skiing. Every day be on those skis. The more you ski the better you get. And just have as much fun as possible.

There have been rumours that “The Massive” may be your last film. Is there any truth behind these rumours? And if so, do you care to explain the reasoning behind it?

  • Definitely not the last movie, but I am taking a little break. You’ll see me next year in a number of films, don’t worry about that.

Thanks Tanner, it's been an honour. Do you have any last words?

  • RESPECT!!!!
